The rights-without-duties myth

A right without its price is half a balance sheet.

A man may have formal access to an occupation while carrying duties to serve, provide, perform dangerous work, or accept legal risk. Count only the access and the duty disappears. The missing cost is then relabeled privilege.

A serious comparison counts the whole legal and social status: rights, prohibitions, duties, risks, and penalties for refusal.

Russian examples appear in “Russian Reality”. The dedicated conscription analysis shows how easily major equality measures ignored male-only compulsory service.

If a man receives a right together with a duty while a woman receives the comparable right without that duty, do not record only the common right.

Count the whole contract.
