Self-made through quotas

“I did it all myself” becomes false when a success story removes a quota, targeted programme, benefit, connections, or another person’s unpaid work. Support does not devalue an achievement. The demand to pretend that unequal starting conditions were equal does.

The contradiction

A special measure is justified by inequality, but its result is offered as proof of independence. A man is then required to provide further help as a personal duty while his contribution is denied.

An honest account names every resource. It does not turn institutional support into personal merit and male support into an invisible background.

What to do

Do not dispute the achievement. Demand an accurate account: who opened access, who carried risk, who handled domestic work, and what came through a special rule. Recognise effort, but reject the myth of self-sufficiency as grounds for new one-sided duties.

Gratitude and honest accounting are stronger than a slogan.
